What is on the GED® test? The GED® test is designed to measure the skills and knowledge equivalent to a high school course of study and supports an adult's successful transition to careers or college. The GED® test has four content areas and takes a little over seven hours:
- Reasoning Through Language Arts (RLA) - 150 minutes (including a 10 minute break)
- Mathematical Reasoning - 115 minutes
- Science - 90 minutes
- Social Studies - 70 minutes
It is offered in English and Spanish and delivered on computer at an Official GED® Testing Center or via online format.
Do I have to take all four content areas at once? No. You can choose to take one content area at a time, two at a time, or any combination that best suits your needs.
Is the GED® test available online?Yes. The GED® test may be taken in person at an official testing center or from the comfort of your home. Home testing does carry additional requirements, such as earning test-level scores on the official GED Ready
® tests prior to scheduling the online test. You are responsible for a strong and secure internet connection and must have a working camera and microphone on your laptop or pc. Please see the GED site for additional information and details.
How much does it cost? Each section of the test costs $36. The total cost for all four sections of the GED® test is $144
Is the test offered in a different language? The GED® test is available in English and Spanish and accommodated formats to provide access to as many adult learners as possible. Check the local policies by visiting your GED student account at
www.GED.com and viewing your message dropdown.

www.GED.com.
Can I just take a GED Practice Test?Tests are available on your GED student account - they are $6.99 per test. If you register, take a pre and post-test and attend at least 12 hours of our classes, you can be eligible to take the practice tests free.
Can I just skip classes and go and take the GED test?Yes. We believe that some preparation helps, even if it's just getting used to how the test is formatted. The decision is up to you, but we strongly suggest that you take the GED Ready Practice test first.
Where can I get a copy of my GED diploma and transcript?Test takers can create accounts at
www.diplomasender.com to view their scores, order credentials (diploma and transcript), and view all historical and current test scores. Duplicate diploma and transcript requests are available for a fee.
